Start the day off at Hinkler Hall of Aviation - Bundaberg’s own museum honouring pioneer, Bert Hinkler. The Hinkler Hall of Aviation pays tribute to Bert Hinkler as a pioneer of flight and as a person who was significant in the advancement of aviation during the early 20th century. Move on to a fascinating look back through time as you explore Bert Hinkler's Southampton, England, home - 'Mon Repos', which was relocated to Bundaberg in 1983. The house stands in the Bundaberg Botanic Gardens overlooking the site where Bert Hinkler landed on 27th of February, 1928, following his record-shattering solo flight from England to Australia.
Finish the day off with a long lunch on the veranda of the historically significant Fairymead House. Built in 1890, the grand homestead was built by the Young family of the Fairymead Sugar Mill and Plantation, and is a representation of the traditional 'Queenslander', and the history of the sugarcane industry.
