Join PolyNovo and Dr Damian Fry for a breakfast masterclass on ‘overcoming challenges of complex wounds with a synthetic dermal matrix in a rural setting

This session will run for approximately 60 minutes and will include a light breakfast served beforehand.

Surgeons working in regional or rural areas often face unique challenges when dealing with complex wounds. These challenges can be multifaceted, and can significantly impact patient outcome. NovoSorb BTM (Biodegradable Temporising Matrix) is a synthetic biodegradable wound scaffold offering a solution. It serves as a temporising matrix creating a stable wound bed that promotes tissue regeneration before definitive closure, and is robust in the present of infection.

Dr Damian Fry, originally from Orange NSW, is a General Surgeon with a strong connection to the country, with special interests in melanoma and hernia surgery.  Having trained as a General Surgeon at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Dr Fry has now successfully introduced a Meanoma Unit at Toowoomba Hospital.  He has accepted appointments as Rural Coach for RACS in 2019, Director of General Surgeons Australia in 2020, and has chaired the GSA Rural Post Fellowship Education and Training Committee since 2021.

Dr Fry will present on his experience using NovoSorb BTM for reconstructive purposes, in a rural setting.  Through case examples, he will cover patient selection, surgical techniques, and management strategies to optimise outcomes.
