PSA 2026 ASC – Back to Future: Reinvention of the Rural Surgeon

We are excited to welcome the PSA ASC to our town – Orange, from September 2nd to September 4th for a program dedicated to the unique complexities of Rural General Surgery and how this has changed (or not) over the years.
 
We will shortly release the Provisional Program that will cover topics relevant to regional surgeons, doctors in training, rural generalists, and medical students, including (but not limited to):
 
  • Perioperative Medicine: The challenges; What does it mean & what patients does it include? How does it improve patient outcomes?
  • Surgical Decision-Making: Balancing the “local vs. metropolitan” referral threshold for complex UGI cancer patients
  • Post-Operative Survivorship: Managing follow-up and surveillance locally to minimise the travel burden on patients
  • Changes in management of bariatric patients
  • ERCP in regional NSW 
  • Surgical innovation & technology
  • Evolution of rural general surgery
  • Navigating the diagnostic pathway: Best practices
